Commercially used cross-cut shredders will differ in the particle size with each manufacturer. High security cross-cuts, however, are made to meet a strict Department of Defense standard of 1mm x 5mm.
Strip-cut shredders produce long strips of a specific width, 1/8 and 1/4 inch. The 1/4 inch strip-cut shredder is the most sold shredder for several reasons. Firstly it is very economical Also, the limited amount of cutting being done results in a greater cutting ability.
